Rated 2 out of 5 by from Misleading, troublesome and disapointing. This Refurbished Ipod was purchased as a gift for my daughter. I looked online to find her a Gen5 16gb and located a number of offers to buy a refurbished model. Apple offers a similar program but did not currently have any Gen5. The Apple site details what exactly it means to purchase a refurbished model, which basically is new everything except the circuit board (battery, cover, etc). I could not located anywhere on the GameStop site that detailed what they do exactly to call them refurbished. Now having received one first hand it would seem nothing. Its certainly not a new case as there are chips, nicks and scratches on the edges where the paint is missing. There are minor scratches on the screen glass as well. Doesn't appear that they installed a new battery as most new ipods come with a partial charge (in other words, the new batteries are tested) this battery was stone dead. It took about 5 minutes before we could even get the Apple logo to come up on the screen. Most troubling was the fact that there is still music loaded on the player from the previous owner. So my question is what exactly is it that establishes this as refurbished as opposed to used, pre-owned, scratch and dent or any of the other terms GameStop uses to describe other not new items they sell? Based on this I would not buy another. I feel that by calling it refurbished they imply something has been done to rejuvenate or repair the item back to near new condition. So be aware if you are considering a similar purchase that you are simply getting a used ipod that someone probably turned in for next to nothing in credit toward another product. Meaning, they didn't value it enough to keep and were willing to practically give it away.
