Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful but Poor Gameplay If you have the time to get into a story then please make it a Final Fantasy game. These games have always been known for their beauty and revolutionary turn-based gameplay. Final Fantasy 13 is clearly the most beautiful game to date, even after the release of Type-0 HD. Though it's aesthetically pleasing, it's boring. The gameplay, the combat, the story are all pretty weak. Especially the combat. Square needs to stop getting creative and go back to the roots of their combat. They were doing it right with the first 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesnt Get Enough Credit This game does so many things well, it returns to the ATB (Active Time Battle) that FF was known for prior to FFX, and it's absolutely gorgeous. The weapon upgrading and item crafting really adds to the depth and the Paradigm systems force you to plan a little further ahead before the battle starts. This is only the second core FF game without random encounters (the first one that's still turn based) and it really adds a lot when you can see what you're about to battle before you actually engage. The game is absolutely gorgeous and the characters really make you care about them, which is nice because you can look forward to many many more hours with these characters in subsequent games. If you love Final Fantasy X-2, picking this up will be a no brainer, the gameplay is very similar, its very cinematic and takes around 60-70 hours to finish in some cases. This game is a great entry in the franchise and cant be overlooked, especially at a $20 price tag new and $10 used. This is a MUST PLAY !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Game As a long-time Final Fantasy fan, I actually very much enjoyed FFXIII. It doesn't deserve the hate it gets from other Final Fantasy fans. The storyline was amazing. The characters were very well developed. Its biggest issue is its linearity. While it does help focus on the story, it takes away the feeling that Final Fantasy usually had. Despite that, it still was a really solid game. It still felt like a Final Fantasy game, but it was a little different from the older Final Fantasy games (which made sense because Final Fantasy fans were wanting something different when XII came out; then they wanted to complain about the fact that XIII was different from the older ones). If you want a game that's consistently good and fun throughout, I really suggest Final Fantasy XIII. Don't listen to the hate it gets from other Final Fantasy fans. This old school Final Fantasy fan enjoyed it very much, and it may go down as one of my favorites from the series (behind VII & X).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG I Love This Game This is my first final fantasy game ever and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I love the characters and the story Lightning is my all time favorite character of any series video game or movie ever. I also love Snow, Fang and Hope. And while I also like Vanille and Sazh in my opinion they are not as cool as the others. While newcomers may not like the battle system at first if you keep at it and learn to use all six different roles and find your our strategy that works you will love it. Now on to the story I originally was a big cod fan and anyone who plays cod knows how short and predictable their stories are but with this game even when I was playing for hours everyday it still took me weeks to beat it because the story is very long and very interesting I just never wanted it to end. Square Enix did a great job with the boss battles by not making them pushovers and by actually making you have to use strategy in order to win. The soundtrack in this game is also amazing with many great tracks to listen to. A lot of people complain about this game linearity which I agree it is pretty linear for a lot of the story but when you get close to the end there are 50 some sidequests to do. What else can I say absolutely amazing game with awesome characters and a great story if you like awesome stuff then buy this game especially for only $13.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worst FF game ever I have been a big FF fan sense I played FF1 as a kid. This is the worst FF ever made. The story line is good but after that everything is terrible. The paradigm system forces you into a certain role. It takes to long to shift roles. No towns? Are you kidding me! I couldn't even force myself through the end of the game. This game could have justifiably skilled FF forever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely fell in love! I am a huge Mario fan so trying this out was difficult at first because I had to get used to the movements and how to work the controller but after that it was a wrap! I love the graphics. So realistic and the story line is awesome. I am now hooked on Final Fantasy. Great game but can be difficult if you don't have the time or strategy. I didn't use the strategy guide but did search a few online cheats. :)
