Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Game I have never played the older games so I have experience with guitar games. This a game that is very entertaining. The career mode is criminally short and could have had more to it. Thats where GHTV comes in with music video streaming (Like MTv with but with music instead of horrible tv shows) anyway this service adds more to the game in its entirity

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awesome experience, until... I loved this game, but there are a few things that ruin it for me.(I'd love to make these paragraphs and not one giant one, makes it easier to read) First off, the "Live" portion, where you're on stage with strangers preforming for strangers. Sure some of the performances were dead on and perfect, while others were just cheesy. I can't remember which song, but the playlist where you're at a festival where they play laid back songs like Demons. Too many fake smiles, too many glances at the camera/you as if they are preforming just for you. One part you turn to the drummer and he gives you dumb smiles, felt like I was one of those Make a Wish people and everything they are doing was for me. I'm not even exaggerating, at least 85% of the things that happen on stage are pointed right at you and getting in your face for no reason. Next up is when you start to lose it and miss notes. Oh no I missed 3 notes in a row, suddenly it cuts to the audience completely silent or saying I suck, along with the band members looking like they are going to kill you or fire you after this song. Then, I nail 4 or so notes and everything is perfect again, no one remembered what I did. I love that it's not the same where you have to lose to see the audiences reaction like the older games, but it's no seamless like the advertisements said it would be. It looks like the screen melts like film and suddenly everyone is in a different spot screaming at you. By the way, you can't fail, if you suck or miss all the notes, you don't fail the song. And finally the song list. There are (i think, not sure) like 30 or so songs on-disc, could be less, meaning the only choice you have is to go online to Guitar Hero TV. There are a ton of problems with this section of the game. Even if you have a fantastic connection and fast internet, you're still going to lose the signal and have a blank background instead of the music video, and when the video comes back, the notes suddenly skip a bit making you miss a bunch of notes, and this happens a lot during a song. Imagine you get on GHTV every day around the same time, nailing the songs, when you notice you keep playing against the same person, wouldn't you like to be their friend? Nope, no option to scroll over their name to add them, if you level up over them or they level up above you, you'll never see them again. I actually had to go into my main PS3 menu, remember their name for the few moments they were on-screen and type it in (didn't get added). The selection of songs online are so minimal that it felt like there are, including the songs on-disk, a total of 60 songs. Very small library of online songs with a lot of them being songs no one has really heard of, with a small exception of a few gems. Every hour or half-hour they change the genre of songs, for example "Rock Hour". One day I logged on and it said it was "Pop Hour" like only Pop songs will play, guess what song came on? "My Kind of Night" by Luke Bryan, a country song, on the wiki of the song it says country, what. That just shows how little the song choices are, I think there are like 3 pop songs, and they gotta fill a whole 30 mins or hour with Pop songs. Overall I enjoyed the experience, but I ended up returning this with the comment: "I think I actually got my moneys worth after the first 3 days, played all the songs online and on-disc, and no new songs have come out in almost a week." My recommendation is wait at least another month or two before buying this, maybe more songs will be added and patches will be applied to connection issues. Thanks for reading~ PS: People complaining about Bangarang not being a guitar song, sure but it pumps me up when I nail it on expert.
