Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bittersweet This game is good and bad. The shooting segments are solid and intense. As for the soundtrack, I love it. The story in this game is okay, but has a few cliches. Mafia 2 struggles within itself to be an open-world game, but in the end, it still comes out as a linear experience. Hand-to-hand combat is cumbersome and a little difficult, but its still possible to work around it. The irritating thing about this game is the awful checkpoint system. Whenever you get far in a shootout segment, you'd better be very careful because you'll get sent back to the beginning of the conflict if you die. Now this game isn't bad, its disappointing, it just didn't live up to everyone's expectations.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Terrible PS3 port Mafia II is an open-world game about, get this, the mafia. Anyway, they game has an open-world, but there is little to nothing to do in it, except drive to the next part of the story. This works out, as the story is actually good. This story is written so well and has probably the GREATEST shock moment in the gaming history. The problems are that the cover system is great, but third-person cover shooting seems to be your characters main job. A day in this game can usually consist of receive phone call that his employer needs your protagonist for a job. Drive to place. Experience cutscene. Drive to place. Shoot things. Drive home while appreciating a good 1940's replica. This is all implemented quite well , the problem being the game is less than 15 hours, and there is nothing else besides the main story. Another issue, perhaps the biggest issue of all, is that this is a TERRIBLE PS3 port. The amount off effort into the graphically fidelity of this game is terrible. The textures are egregious. The world looks less emmersive with the graphically drop compared to the 360 and PC. This is a major problem. The 360 version of this looks so much better that the score would be bumped up to a 7/10.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great game in the old days This is a great game. You have the old cars and the city looks old and everything. It has some really hard parts but you can sometimes beat them after you play it over and over again like I did. There is so much to do. Beat people up, kill people, drive, steal, or listen to the Mafia cause you kinda have to to beat a mission. You might not steal too much but it is kinda in the crime part where you take things so yeah. I didn't the game cause it got really hard a one part so if you can beat this game I will really impressed. So if you a little break from GTA and still want a crime game this would be it. Ok.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better to buy the Greatest Hits version There has yet to be many story lines that can match a game such as this, and certainly none stationed around the 1940's and 50's. In addition, this has some ties to the old game. Th e driving aspect of this game is amazing. The only problem in my opinion is gunfights at point blank range because it is extremely difficult to shoot them that such a close range.
