Rated 5 out of 5 by from A game that endures I prefer X over X-2, but both were beautifully done back for the PS2, and now on the PS4 they absolutely shine. X was the first FF game I played so it has a special place on my shelf, it led me to play from VI up and I loved them all. The VA was a little cheesy at times(the laughing scene comes to mind) but it was the first FF to have it so I didn't judge it too harshly. Granted the difficulty level for FF seemed to drop starting with X but the story, characters, battle system and graphics still make for an amazing experience. I logged over 250 hours back on the PS2 version of X, over 100 on the PS3 version and am approaching 100 on PS4. Something about this game just appeals to me like no other. This game will always have a place on my shelf and I imagine I'll find myself still replaying it in 20 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old players, nostalgia, New players, great intro I've been playing this game back on my PS2 for years now and with it on PS4 several years later now its made the classic game so much more appealing to me now that it has International Version content like Dark Aeons and Penance and with the Trophies now it gives me more incentive to Platinum the game. Easily a game that can suck 100+ hours of your life away.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It's not that great I know this game has a lot of high praise but I was almost immediately bored by it. I played the first hour or so and it was one of the worst gaming experiences of my life. I wanted to like this game but it just bored me. First of all the game was boring, the story made me want to sleep, and the combat interface was horrible. And the graphics? Don't even get me started on some of the annoying glitches that occurred in the middle of my playing time. Try a better game people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A game that still lingers after you're finished I played this game when it first came out on the ps2, and over a decade later, it still gives me the very same feeling after finishing it. It's one of those games that you never forget because it's so amazing. From the emotional soundtracks to its unique storyline, this extremely addicting game will pull you in right from the start and it gets better the further along you go. In my opinion, FFX is definitely the best out of the series. The plot twists and challenges will keep you entertained for many hours. Furthermore, the graphics have been made incredibly HD and up-to-date. I would highly recommend this game to anyone, and if you have not played it, you are truly missing one of the best RPGs of all times out there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Final Fantasy X way over hyped To me Final Fantasy X is when the series started attracting the anime crowd more then the gamer crowd to the series. That being said the story of X is sold, and the characters are well developed. However the game lacks in game play. Gone are the open world maps of old Final Fantasy games. Instead we get the linear landscapes of Spira. The battle system tho the last turn based system in the core series kind of lacks. Given the ability to switch out party members to fill their job "roles" takes any work on party planning out of the equation. As the game progresses you can customize your characters to fill ALL the job roles required for a party. Once again taking out the strategic mind set required in past games. Also the battle systems order clock shows you who will be attack, and when. Even with these changes the Boss battles do still offer the challenge that Final Fantasy bosses are known for. However this mostly comes in the form of crazy chain attacks, status effect attacks, or even just ridiculous defense and health. All in all I would say Final Fantasy X is a solid title, but far from the reaches of most of the games in the series. If you plan to buy this... just play Final Fantasy X... pay no heed to X-2... Unless you want to play J-pop doll dress up game... such a shame because X-2 was well made with a new take on the job class system and battle system. However it's story just crashes these positive changes into the ground.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two HD Remaster games worth playing To be honest I like FF X more than X-2 so far. In X, the gameplay is that you can take your time planning on what actions to do before an enemy attacks. In X-2 however, you have a limited amount of time before an enemy attacks you, just classic FF games. I prefer the gameplay style of X than X-2. Then again I only played the beginning of X-2. As for graphics, the CGI cutscene graphics are both outstanding and looks like it belongs to modern Ps4 1080p graphics :) CGI cutscenes of Tidus, Auron, Kimarhi, Lulu, Wakka, Yuna and Rikku looks so 1080p perfection as well. That Underwater kissing scene of Tidus and Yuna was nicely done as well and you get a trophy for seeing that cutscene! Right now in X I have over 110 hours of gameplay just becuase I wanted to platinum the game before I start X-2. The celestial weapons were so difficult to get, especially the sigils of Lulu with dodging 200 lightning bolts, Tidus and the chocobo race with that cursed chocobo trainer and Kimarhi with collecting them butterflies that it is not a game for casuals, but for hardcore gamers that are up to the challenge to fully upgrade all their celestial weapons with crests and sigils like I did :) Even more time consuming for hardcore platinum trophy hunters are the challenge of beating Penance and Nemesis, which I still have to defeat more dark aeons, which I defeated Dark Valefor and Dark Ifrit just recently. Let me just say that Dark Ifrit was way more difficult to defeat Dark Valefor and luckily I had auto haste and auto phoenix to back me up. As for monster hunting, I still got way more enemies to beat, but I however defeated that Shinryu sea dragon just recently as well. The biggest challenge of FF X is to completely light up and fill up all your grid with nodes and spheres, which could easily take you 100 hours or more like what I am doing nowadays with X. If you are a hardcore gamer reading this, then I reccomend you take the platinum trophy challenge and spend hundreds of hours grinding for experience and fully upgrading your character's celestial weapons. As for the sound, I like how you can change it from arranged(hd remake) sound to the original(Ps2 version) sound of the game :) Too bad you cannot lower the background music to 0 to listen to some Spotify music :( Anyway as for X-2 my friend showed me a moogle character you have to talk to in order to eventually get 100% in the game and see the secret ending. That is the next challenge I will take once I platinum FF X. Overall I have no regrets buying this for my Ps4. If you have not bought the Ps3 version like I did, I reccomend getting this instead for the full 1080p CGI cutscenes and original soundtrack you can listen to instead of just the hd remaster version background music. Have fun as well grinding your characters for hundreds of hours to get 255 stats max besides hp and mp, as well and playing Blitzball and getting all the Reels for Wakka! Ps. The attack and Aurochs reels are the best overdrive moves for Wakka for multiple hits!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from RNG Bug Needs To Be Fixed FFX is great, but the PS4 version has a major bug that needs to be adressed by SE. Destructoid wrote an article about it, so check it out if you want more details.
