Rated 5 out of 5 by from The excitement ensues. This game is my all time favorite of the bunch. The battle system was one of a kind for the series and the story was relatively amazing. People may say the story isn't good but that is because it isn't the cliche story that all final fantasies have. It's about politics and saving a kingdom from ruin. This game has tons to offer. Hunts, mini games, and best of all challenge, you cant put on your special item to prevent fights, this game is about strategy and the ability to cope with it, This is by far one of the toughest final fantasy and therefore makes a lasting impression, I am very excited for the remastered to come out, looking forward to sinking 200+ hours into it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, Not Great Here's the thing about FFXII, it's definitely a unique Final Fantasy. Story, gameplay, and characters are nothing like any other FF title, but that doesn't mean it's a great game. The characters are the biggest problem I have with this title, as they never seem to grow. They stay bland and almost emotionless at times when in other games the drama would have been over the top, so you never feel for them when they come across some misfortune. They really don't help drive the story along either. FFXII's story isn't horrible by any means, but it doesn't stick out from other main line FF's. It's a bit hard to follow if you don't pay attention to cutscenes, but again, that's hard to do when you can't stand to listen to Vaans incessant whining. It compares to FFXV's story, but actually thought out to completion without feeling rushed at the end. Finally, combat. It's very hit and miss. The gambit system allows you to set your party members up however you want them. Example, when party health drops below 30%, you can have Penelo cast Cura automatically without having to worry about the AI screwing it up, or like wise have Fran cast Fire spells against fire sensitive monsters, so on and so forth. Set it up too well however, and the game practically plays itself. You can intervene at anytime and pick you own actions, but it takes away from the charm of the combat. Combat is not bad at all, but I never felt a rush from it either. It just felt like a part of the game that was there as filler. Completing side quests and hunts were by far the best thing to do in FFXII, and the rewards for doing so never made it feel pointless. FFXII wasn't a bad gameby any means. I genuinely like the combat, license and gambit systems, but the characters make it hard for me to want to spend another 100+ hours in Ivalice again. I'm on the fence about getting this port just for an improved job system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hands down the best FF After Final Fantasy X, I felt that the title was heading in the wrong direction. I didn't like the combat system, hated the fact that equipment was so limited and there was like no grinding left to do. Final Fantasy XII delivered on everything I ever wanted. The semi-realtime combat is extremely fun and doesn't require you to constantly button mash through tedious menus. I love all the side quests as well as the Muthru Bazaar system, the randomization of loot found in chests, the skill tree, and heck, the summons even looked really awesome for their day. The post game content is a lot of fun and will take a ton of effort to complete. If you are an average gamer, the normal game content is great, but if you are a hardcore gamer who likes challenge, I highly recommend the post game content. I've played through this game probably once a year since its release and I will continue that tradition probably for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Childhood Can't wait for this to come out. I first played it when I was only about 12. I only wish they would've brought it out for Vita as well that way I could take it with me everywhere I go and play it nonstop

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic game. Can't wait!! FFXII is a complete departure from the turn based staple that Final Fantasy games were known for. While this installment in the series got mixed reception, overall is a excellent RPG. The art style is different, the combat is real time, and the music is loud, orchestrated intensity. I loved this game and I'm excited to pick it up in a few months and do a whole play through on Twitch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GLAD THIS IS COMING OUT IN HD I am so happy that this is finally making it to HD, and with the remaster of the best of the series (FFVII), it was only a matter of time before some of the remaining titles in the FF series would see a remaster. This is one of my top 3 favorites in the series (FFVII, FFXII & FFX), and one of the RPG titles that I have continually gone back to play many times years after release. The only title that I have purposely not finished was FFXIII. That was the only one in the series that I found myself becoming bored with. The story is great, and once you can get used to the battle gauges and gambits, the game play is quite entertaining and generally fun. For all the negativity pointed towards this title by players, this is not the worst title of the series, and maybe it should be given another try. If you don't like it, fine, and I'm sorry that you don't.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is about time! YES finally. I wanted to play this game for the longest time and i was about to dist off the old ps2 for it. But new class system and new stuff too boot? I'm all over this. The game was great and it was such a great story line which lived in one for the best Final Fantasy universe that was ever made. They should have made this one into a MMO it would have been great but you know lol. I will play its over and complete it to its entirety. I so excited about finding an beating those Espers agian!!!
