Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Great Game! I only say surprisingly because so many critics tore this game up with low grades and reviews. I've learned to mainly "find out for myself" when it comes to games. This game is incredible. I will say it does have a level of maturity and sophistication to the story, which might explain why some have complained. I'm not sure a younger gamer would enjoy or appreciate this one. In my opinion, the gameplay mechanics are pretty much the same as most shooters. The cover system is a bit tricky but to me it's realistic. This game is very interactive in the sense that often you will find yourself taking part in the movie cut scenes...and to me that was a ton of fun. Without spoilers, Im sure most know this game involves werewolves and some have complained they are not in enough of the game. I disagree..for if it were more appearances those same folks would likely complain and call it repetitive. Give this game a go...the price is low now. Graphics are incredible, gameplay is great, story although it is mature (might be viewed as slow) is compelling and intriguing, weapons are kool, characters are great, the voice acting might be some of the best I've heard on a game.. and the mechanics are great. One last thing, it does have some replay value also, there are moments in the game in which you can decide how to dispatch an enemy from numerous choices. I look forward to going back and making different choices..which lead to different cut scenes. Pretty kool!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A Missed Opportunity The Order: 1886 is a game that looks like it should have been great, but just misses the mark in many ways. It is a better fit for the second game in a trilogy rather than a standalone game. There are some positives. The production value is high. It looks really good, has high quality graphics and has good sound effects and fairly decent voice acting. The cut scenes are high quality. Also, the mechanics of the game feel good. The shooting feels right, the cover system works well, and movement is smooth enough. The premise of the game is also good: an alternate 19th century history in which the Order is essentially the Knights of the Round Table who have lived for hundreds of years. You have Nicola Tesla working for you and your primary mission is the destruction of Lycans (werewolves). You won’t feel frustrated playing the game and the mechanics will be satisfying enough that you may even enjoy the experience. But you won’t love it. There is nothing innovative about the game. The weapons are all fairly standard and boring, even with Nicola Tesla working for you. The levels are all extremely repetitive sequences of finding cover and shooting the same enemies over and over and over again. There are a couple stealth areas and a few times when you fight some Lycans, but these are rare and each time is exactly the same as the first. The Story is extremely poorly executed, there is no character development and you are just plopped into the story without any understanding of what the Order even is. The main character is erratic, murderous, has an anger problem, and makes poor decisions. He is intensely unlikable. For being Knights of the Round Table who are centuries old the cast are like a bunch of emotional toddlers who yell more than they talk in a calm adult voice. Like I said before, it’s like it should be the second game in a trilogy. The premise is not set up well enough and the main goal of the game doesn’t even get fully resolved. Lastly, it is filled with features that seem slapped together: lock picking, button sequences, and collectibles. They just feel pointless: many of the collectibles are unreadable or have no relevance to the story and lock picking never results in gaining anything useful. Overall, the game is lackluster and feels like it could have been amazing, but they just half-worked too many things. If there was a sequel I would play it because I find the premise interesting, but I would hope they learned some things from the first time through. If you want an easy platinum trophy or are bored this is not a terrible game to give a shot, but if you are looking for your next favorite game, look elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome Game BUT WAY TOO SHORT!!!!! This game has some of the most beautiful graphics and amazing cinematics that i have seen. Gameplay felt similar to Gears of War in a way due to the cover and shooting mechanics. The sound and voice acting was top notch and i was really intrigued with the story and the characters involved. now for the down side of the game which was it being way way way way way too short!!! Now the total time you could beat this game is in about 5 hours maybe but a majority of those 5 hours are just cut scenes that can last at least 10 min. up to 20 min. I mean i really enjoyed the game dont get me wrong but just not for the $60 price tag they were asking for in the begining. Now if you can find the game for about $20 bucks then i would say definately buy it. But anything higher than that dont waste your money. However buy it if you can find it cheap enough.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Boooring Looks amazing, but the gameplay is so stale and repetitive and slow. You spend a majority of the game slowly walking around, and the rest watching beautiful, yet lame cinematics. The story is a mismatched melange of cliches that make little sense as there is no real introduction to the alternate universe it's set in. Looks amazing, but you get bored of looking at it very quickly. And virtually zero replay value, because you can barely muster the strength to finish it even once. If you can find it used for 10-12 bucks, go ahead. Otherwise, don't bother.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A great example that Graphics aren't everything When i first saw this game i felt like this was the game that Sony would use to compare to the fantastic Gears of War series i was hyped but my hype want down when i heard they would not multiplayer then i thought Maybe its open world like Assassin's Creed but no its linear short like 6 to 7 hours of gameplay i can't deny that The Graphics,The Fantastic sound design and The exelent voice acting are good things in those things this would easly scores a 10 but there is lack of gameplay The only thing i hope is that The sequel has enough to be a perfect oponent for Gears of War with Multiplayer and more lenght
