The Game Informer Watch List: Fallout 76

The bombs fell, and the world was destroyed. Radiation seeped into the land, killing the crops, and mutating the wildlife into something new. You are one of the lone survivors. As the fire scorched the sky, you descended into Vault 76, a secure metal bunker resting in the side of one of Appalachia's mountains. Today is the last day you'll spend in this place, as it's finally Emergence Day. You're about to step into a new world, and you won't be alone. Your friends are coming along for the journey.

Fallout 76 is the first online role-playing game from Bethesda Game Studios, the development team behind The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. You can play the game solo if you so choose, but you can also enlist the help of friends or random people you come across in the Wasteland. You can team up to take on quests or battle giant beasts, or you can turn on your fellow survivors to try to reap all of the rewards for yourself.

The gameplay is reminiscent of Bethesda's other Fallout games, putting a strong emphasis on scavenging for supplies in Appalachia's ruins. You can create your own home, forge your own weapons and armors, and obtain Power Armor to explore the regions of the map that are still radiated. The addition of other human players means you can use teamwork to tackle the more challenge objectives, such as timed events that may require everyone on the server join together to stop a great threat.

We've always wanted to play a Bethesda game multiplayer, and now we're getting the chance with Fallout 76. While we're wary of the world not having traditional NPCs to interact with, we're hoping the camaraderie of playing with friends will fill that gap to create another post-apocalyptic experience we wouldn't mind spending hundreds of hours in.

Why GameStop is Excited For Fallout 76

It's Reclamation Day, 2102. It's been 25 years since the bombs fell, and now it's time for the denizens of Vault 76 to emerge and explore whatever lies in the wastes of what was once America. Band together with other Vault Dwellers or go it alone and explore the wastes, construct communities, and learn more about the world that existed when the bombs fell. In Vault 76, our future begins!

You Are S.P.E.C.I.A.L.: Like Fallout games of the past, create the character you want to play using the icon S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. Will you be an intelligent charmer or a strong brute? The choice is yours.

Journey with Friends: For the first time, explore the expansive post-nuclear wastes with a pal. Fallout 76 offers players the ability to partner-up on their adventures as they conquer the wasteland.

Hiking Through Post-nuclear America: West Virginia's rolling hills, dense forests and the mountains of Appalachia have all been affected by the fallout. Venture into this new world where the fallout's effects are just beginning to take shape.

Harness the Power of Atom: In this post-nuclear world, people worship the Power of Atom, and the nuclear missiles that contain it. Travel the map to unlock access to the ultimate weapon. You have a choice: do you harness its destructive powers or protect the land from more devastation?

Make C.A.M.P.: Call any place home thanks to the all-new Construction and Assembly Mobile Platform (C.A.M.P.). This tools allows players to build shelter from the harsh environment and set up shop to trade with other survivors.
